It was such a great pleasure to be invited to Mandurah Primary School for their October 2020 Book Week. Mrs Hatton and Ms Wild’s year three & four classes had been reading ‘Jimmy Round Belly, The Canopy’ as part of their literacy curriculum.

Mrs Ramage the school librarian kindly organised a session with each class. We discussed how the book came to be and I answered lots of fantastic and inquisitive questions. We had great fun drawing the characters from the book together, which showed off everyones unique imagination and style.

Afterwards, the students walked through a little gallery featuring the original illustrations and rough sketches.

Two students were awarded a signed ‘Jimmy Round Belly, The Canopy’ hardback book for their writing prowess throughout the year. Mrs Hatton, Ms Wild and Mrs Ramage also received a signed and embossed giclée print for all their hard work and enthusiasm (especially Mrs Hatton for her theatrical narrating).

Below are some lovely bits ‘n’ bobs I received from the students.
